Al lay in the bed, quiet and reflective. The automated intravenous medicine dispenser blinked thrice and delicately whirred, as it released another dose. The monitor with his vital signs blinked and squirmed.
Finally, he brought his gaze back to his counselor.
"You always talk about releasing energy in to the Universe," he said, "Like it is some natural state of the order of the Universe. Like we have to do it. What if we keep holding negative energy inside us? What if keeping it inside, bottled up, preventing it being released, destroys that negative energy when we die? What if taking it to the grave with us ensures that energy will never make another person do that behavior again? What if by never talking about it keeps it from happening to someone else?"
